Yoga for Ovarian Health

Gentle yoga may support women's reproductive wellbeing by easing tension in the hips and lower abdomen, calming the nervous system and encouraging relaxed movement. Soft hip openers and supported poses are commonly used. This is a supportive complement for general wellbeing, not a treatment for ovarian cysts or any medical condition.

Who this is for

Women who want gentle, supportive movement for reproductive-area comfort and wellbeing, alongside medical care. Not a treatment — see your doctor for diagnosis and management.

At a glance

Supports: relaxation, gentle hip and lower-belly ease
Approach: soft hip openers, supported and reclining poses, slow breath
Alongside: your doctor's diagnosis and care
Not: a cure or treatment for ovarian cysts or any condition

Concerns about the ovaries, including cysts, need proper medical diagnosis and care. Yoga can't treat them, but gentle movement that eases tension in the hips and lower abdomen, together with calming breath, may support your general comfort and wellbeing while you follow your doctor's guidance.

Soft hip openers such as Butterfly, gentle Bridge and supported Reclined Bound Angle, paired with slow breathing, invite the lower body to relax. Keep the practice gentle, avoid deep abdominal compression if it causes pain, and always work alongside your doctor — this is a supportive complement for wellbeing, not a treatment.

Video transcriptIn this session, the teacher guides you through a seated butterfly stretch, a seated spinal twist, and a hip-lifting bridge pose to ease groin, hip, and pelvic tension.

We begin to sit with a straight back and keep your soles of your feet together and interlock your fingers onto your toes and begin to flap your thighs. So this helps in opening your tightness in your groins and your hips. Make sure your breath is really normal to intensify the stretch in your groins. Pull your feet closer to your pelvis and begin to flap for a couple of times.

Now, lift your navel above the ground level, push your pelvic bone down, tuck your pelvic bone down, and then in both ways push the shoulders back, drop them back and drop them back. While your feet, one on top of the other, treat them as one unit, and now bring your left hand on your knees, take your right hand behind.

Now this is going to be a twist, and before you do any twist always engage your core, lengthen your spine, open out your shoulders, and then as you exhale twist back.

Begin to lie down on your back and place your heels as close as possible to your butt and hold your ankles, make sure your thumb is outside, and when you're ready slowly inhale and lift your hips all the way up. So try and reach as high as possible, but your breath should be in the normal range, and stay here for a couple of deep breaths.
